The QG Page
  • Are there times when you can’t access the Gmail website?
  • Do you worry about keyloggers when on a shared PC and you have to enter your Gmail password?
  • Are you using a slow PC or flaky internet connection and find the Gmail site painful to use at times?

The PHP script below is designed is designed to allow simple internet access to Gmail without using the Gmail website. Upload it to your own webhost and it will provide you with a safe way to access your gmail and reply to messages, without you having to go to the Gmail website or enter your Gmail password.

Note: This is not a complete replacement for the Gmail website. It only allows VERY simple viewing of messages and replying, for the times when it’s difficult to go to the Gmail website, or you don’t want to enter my Gmail password. It’s simple because I want it to be low-traffic and fast, and it covers my needs.

Note2: Make sure you protect the directory that you put this script in with htaccess. For me, I’d rather enter the password to this script when on a shared computer than the password to my Gmail account. Damage limitation.

Note3: I use my mobile phone to access Gmail, so I don’t need to use this script from my workplace. I want to make that perfectly clear to the people I work for ;) I use it primariliy when I want to quickly see my emails without going to the gmail website - eg, when using my Kohjinsha ultraportable on a dodgy internet connection.

Don’t have a webhost? Try Cirtex.
