Panasonic GH1 First High ISO Tests

I’ve just got home with the GH1 and taken some quick handheld high ISO shots. First 3 are in natural indoor lighting in daytime, the rest are in darker rooms with some natural light.

Initial impressions are good – ISO3200 is a bit fuzzy but acceptable. In the polar bear case I couldn’t get a shot that looks “crisp” at ISO3200 – it looks like there may be camera shake. I tried many times and got the same result even though I had no problem with ISO1600, so it may just be inherent in the ISO3200 quality. IS was set to Mode 1.

Crops were done quickly and are lossless crops using Faststone Image Viewer (ie, saved without recompression). All settings are camera defaults except the ISO, focal point (center), and aperture (aperture mode, widest aperture). JPEG at the highest quality (please note that the very high ISO images in my G1 review were converted from RAW so are not directly comparable with the GH1 images – I’ll test the GH1 with RAW later.)
