Friday

I’m due to go to Thailand on Friday for Eyal’s wedding - but comments like this make me wonder whether that will be possible:

The government has started commercial services from a nearby military base but the waiting list for flights runs into weeks.

If it is taking weeks to get the people there out, what chance is there for me being able to get out on my scheduled flight? There is a distinct lack of real information.

Acting Like A Bunch Of Girls..

..is nothing new for Thais, but now they are acting like children too. Grow up people! Your government was only voted in a year ago - if you hated them then you shouldn’t have voted for them.

The PAD is a loose grouping of royalists, businessmen and the urban middle-class opposed to Mr Thaksin.

No it’s not.

The PAD is a big bunch of children who named themselves after a sanitary towel.

What astonishes me is that the King isn’t making a statement calling for the end of the protests. Whereas no-one listens to the British Queen, Thai people respect and follow their King. I am sure he could end this in seconds.

How Long To Gobble Down An 8 Incher?

I found out about this from Eyal, who found out from Jil:

Bob’s BBQ has a standing offer for anyone interested, called The Wagon Wheel Challenge. If you can eat one of Bob’s Wagon Wheel Burgers (about 3 pounds total weight, price range 400 to 500 baht depending on toppings) including the french fries in under 45 minutes, Bob will put your name on the Wagon Wheel Hall of fame (a plaque on the wall of his restaurant), put your picture on his website, and knock half the price off your burger.

What’s funny here is clicking through to the website and seeing the list of people who have attempted to eat the 8 inch burger, and succeeded. There’s a Korean there. A Scotsman. Lot s of Chubby people, but some not so chubby. The longest time was 45 minutes.

45 minutes to eat a burger. Man….

But for some strange reason, it’s tempting. I do love a good burger. And it doesn’t look that big.

Americans, in their typical style, have gone one better.
