Fisheye vs Wide Angle
Bought two new lenses a few weeks ago:
Below is a quick comparison of the “wideness” of the two – top is the Tokina at 11.5mm (=17mm), bottom is the Panasonic at 7mm (=14mm).
What’s interesting is that even though you’d think the 14mm Panasonic would get more in than the 17mm Tokina, it’s actually the opposite – you can see the full painting with the Tokina, and I didn’t even have to zoom out to the widest setting.
I have to say that I’m loving the fisheye far more than the Panasonic wide lens – the effects you can get are great fun, and it’s a much wider view.

Gaaahhhh
I look at this site and drool.. not because I love this style in particular, but because if I was living in the States I could get shoes that fit me just with a few clicks. In Japan I can’t find them at all. Every time I go to the UK/States, I have to spend at least one day of the vacation just looking for the next year’s supply of shoes!

Fujifilm reads dpreview forums – and this blog
Seems like they want to see what people are saying about their 3D camera:

Fuji Finepix Real 3D W1 & V1 – Hands on
Last night I had a quick hands on with the Fuji Finepix Real 3D W1 and the Fuji Finepix Real 3D V1 photoframe. There’s only one word I can say: WOW.
Read my initial hands on to find out more.

The Panasonic GF1
The hot rumour right now is the Panasonic DMC-GF1 – leaked from an internal PDF document from Panasonic.
This camera makes sense. After the G1 was produced, Panasonic threw all their energy into video. Now video is complete, they’ve set their focus on varying the G1 body – using advances in technology to reduce internal components. Think of the iPod – every ~2 years it becomes smaller just through more efficient technology.
It’s also clear there’s a market for this. The Olympus E-P1 “Pen” has generated significant interest – but I’ve used one and it’s as slow as hell at focussing. As dpreview said, it’s even slower than some compact cameras. A combination of slower operating lenses and less efficient focus algorithms – stick a G1 lens on a E-P1 and you improve matters, but it’s still slow. E-P1 is 121mm x 70mm x 36mm, GF1 is 119mm x 71mm x 36.3mm.
What you have seems to be essentially a GH1 without the rotating screen and viewfinder, with the flash moved and the hand grip reduced. If that’s the case, I’ll be all over this beast. I like the rotating screen of the GH1, but I think I could do without it for the smaller body – and I’m presuming I could connect to an external screen via HDMI.
I now use the G1 for 95% of my photography – not because it’s better than my D90 (my D90 actually takes better photos) but because it’s with me almost 100% of the time. Maybe every month or so I take my D90 out to play, but daily the G1 is with me.
It’s that realisation which is adding to my dialema about which wide angle lens to buy – should I get the Micro 4/3rds 7-14mm or a cheaper but larger lens for the D90. In the end I think the Micro 4/3rds is going to win – not only is it smaller and I’ll get more use from it (because I use the G1 more) but recently I’ve seen that the Micro 4/3rds platform is progressing and I’ll be able to use the lenses on different cameras in the future. Contrast this with my Nikon where I’m likely to go full frame next time and so any lenses I buy now will have a limited life.
What I’d really like to see is the new D700 come with a rotating screen. The replacement for the D700 is due October 15 – the D700x is rumoured to be 24.5 MP, Full-HD movie 24 fps, with improved AF and self timer + mirror-up. Personally I expect the ISO will not be as good as the D700 – if that’s the case I hope it knocks down the price of the D700.
Then there’s the rumour of a mirror-less Nikon – like the G1, GH1, GF1, and E-P1. Interesting times!
